New Rewind Blog
May 23rd, 2007 by Drumstick in UncategorizedRewind has finally gotten a new site! Rewind is considered one of the leading hip hop crews in Australia, and remains an inspiration to many of the younger crews around the country.
After winning Shakedown last year, they now have their sights on the world’s most prestigious and recognised hip hop dance competition, ‘Hip Hop International’. Last year, the Phillipine All Stars took out the competition and were crowned as the best hip hop crew in the world.
You can follow their journey at their new blog:
The Half-Year that was… 2007
May 14th, 2007 by Drumstick in UncategorizedWith the close of Groove Melbourne’s first chapter tonight, there are no more confirmed dance events on the roster as many of the dancers will be taking a break to prepare for their mid-year exams.
A lot of exciting things happened this year with heaps of auditions, international dance workshops, competitions and new crews formed. Melbourne’s first official nu skool crew (Jigsaw Sneakers) and funk styles crew (Nomadic Funk) were formed. They will be some of the big names to watch out for this year along with The Project, Vikings, and of course, last year’s hard hitters Beatphonik.
This year has definitely been the busiest and biggest year for hip hop dance in Melbourne and it’s been hard to keep track of what happened so we’ve compiled a snapshot of the news and grooves that’s occurred in the past five months!
A Snapshot of Melbourne’s Hip Hop Dance scene in the first half of 2007
