So You Think You Can Dance Finale Tonight!

Make sure you watch the So You Think You Can Dance Grand Finale tonight on Channel Ten at 7.30pm.

Remember to support the hip hop community and text “Demi” to 19 10 10!

The night will feature some of the favourite dances from the series plus special guest performances. Watch out for the hip hop community representing! Don (SKB), Khaly (Juse), Kamikaze (Juse), Josh & JK, Sid, Robotgirl (Hollabak), Sisqo & Max (Dejavu), Drumstick (Groovedance), and Mack (Vikings) will be performing.


DDO Mock Audition & Career Workshop

Both a short jazz and a short hip hop combination will be taught. So please bring appropriate dance shoes. You will be expected to freestyle/improv. If you also have a specialty skill (e.g. contortion, tap, belly dancing, krump), please e-mail or call us prior to the workshop.

Michael will also be giving general career advice and holding an extended question and answer session. If you have any specific topics you want to cover, please let us know and we will see if Michael will have time to address them.

Australian Hip Hop Championships Tickets Nearly Sold Out

Tickets for the Australian Hip Hop Championships are NEARLY SOLD OUT. Word is there are only 38 tickets left at Ticketek, and there are only single seats left for Silver seating. Please ensure you buy your tickets as soon as possible in order to avoid disappointment. Apologies in advance for those of you who will be unable to get tickets!

Freestyle Fever - 19 April

Freestyle Fever returns this year with 5on5 bboy crew battles and 1on1 bboy battles.

Held on Saturday 19th April at Luna Park near St Kilda beach and as always, it’s an under-16 event from approximately 11am-3pm. Good luck to all the contestants!

Congrats to Random Select and Street Funk for winning Looze Control!  Looze Control was a successful event with a packed house and a pleasant environment!

The Game - Krump Event Australia-wide

The Game is the premiere Krump event in Australia. The event expands this year to Sydney, Brisbane, and also New Zealand, culminating in a massive Australia v New Zealand event held in NZ. You can register for the battles at OzKrump.com.

The first installment is in Sydney on April 26 @ Redfern Community Centre

Australian Hip Hop Championships - Wildcards Announced

K-star has been announced as the wildcard entrant for the junior division. Nu Skool Club won the open category wildcard slot and will be bringing their unique flavour to the finals on May 18!

This now completes the currently line-up and all that’s left is for the crews to train extremely hard! Freeloaders, Hi-Voltage, Hollabak, DeJaVu, Dopplegangers, Nu Skool Club, Lemmings, Rewind, DVP and Beatphonik make up the open age division. Isolation Crew Jnr, Urban Youth Project, Street Funk and K-Star are the junior crews.

Collectively, these crews have won almost every national title on offer so the finals are set to be an amazing show!

Looze Control this Saturday

Just a reminder that Looze Control is this Saturday!

A list of the competing and showcasing crews as well as info on the battles, judges and prizes is up at our Looze Control page.

The Tre Armstrong Workshop is on the next day (13 April ~ the date on the left sidebar is incorrect) at Melbourne Music Academy.

Unfortunately Groovedance will be unable to provide media coverage for Looze Control due to personal committments. Sorry!


Australian Hip Hop Championships Sydney Results

The final preliminary for the Australian Hip Hop Championships took place last Saturday. The standard was very high and all the crews performed excellent shows.

Qualifying for the finals at The Palms at Crown Casino on May 18 are; Urban Youth Project for the juniors, and DeJaVu, Dopplegangers, Lemmings for the open category.

The finals are already set to be a STUNNING event with a lineup of amazing judges and the strongest crews in the country all hungry for the title of the Australian Hip Hop Champions.

There is still one wildcard spot left for the open and junior categories and we’ll let you know who they are as soon as it gets announced!
